Since 2001 I’ve been caring for animals in the veterinary field. In 2011, I shifted into home pet care and opened Fidos and Felines.
Fidos and Felines had been a thought in my mind for many years and it was exciting to see my dream become a reality. I started with overnight care for hospital clients who went out of town and I found that I really enjoyed being able to see the happier side of pets, which was as rewarding as being able to help them when at the vet. I noticed that when pets are in their own home they are much less stressed out, and it is easier to keep their routine, which was great for their well being while their owners were away. I enjoy volunteering my free time with foster pets and work closely with an area trainer to help get foster dogs in shape for their adoptive families. I also enjoy educating others and myself about pet health, behavior, and nutrition. I love learning about each pet individually and his or her habits and quirks. Animals are fascinating! The most rewarding thing for me to see when visiting a new home whose cat or dog was shy at first is when they begin realizing that I am there for good things, and warm up to me. It is great knowing that my visit is always such a positive spot in their day and their head butts, and wagging tails make me so happy and further my belief that I have chosen the right path by doing in home pet sitting and dog walking. |
